FEEL YOUR INNER BEAUTY

Do you feel your inner beauty right now? Or are you lost in thoughts of checklists and next steps? If you feel like your going non-stop then you are not feeling your inner beauty. Truly feeling your inner beauty creates a calmness and order in your day.

Our inner beauty is our true self that guides us at all times. It may be a whisper or an unspoken sense of knowing without thinking. This internal voice can only be heard when we truly trust ourselves and love oneself.

Feeling your inner beauty starts when you wake up in the morning.

Start with noticing the first hour of your day. When I started this evaluation of myself, I realized below was my routine (over the course of 1 1/2 hours):

1. Wake-up and immediately tend to my kids or husband
2. Quickly use the bathroom
3. Start breakfast for my family and forget to feed myself and have a cup of coffee
4. Rush to get all the kids changed and with 15 minutes left before driving them school - quickly take a shower and put on clothes.

Just writing this makes me exhausted thinking of my old mornings.

I realized I needed to make it a priority for myself to have a better morning for myself which would create calmness within as well as to my family.

Now my routine is to wake up earlier to both meditate and exercise. My body tells me that I need time to stretch (15 min) and mediate for 10 minutes. I then try to workout for about 45 minutes. Some days I just stretch, other days I exercise (no hard fast schedule, but I attend some structured exercise class to help). Then, about 15 minutes before I interact with my family I eat breakfast and have coffee. I try to sit down either on the couch or patio (if warm outside) and drink and eat in peace. I have tried this for about 3 months and the difference dramatic in my day. I find that that simple routine change gave permission to my inner self to direct my day and drive my thoughts.

Once I get my family ready for the day - I take a dedicated 15 minutes prep time for myself to not only shower but moisturize myself. The task of moisturizing myself is similar to a self massage which had made me more connected to my own body. I feel I am caring for my body in that simple task. Time for myself seems to empower myself to dress up more including having my face with makeup before I head out of the door.

I urge you to try this in your day tomorrow:

1. Wake up 1/2 earlier
2. Stretch for 10 minutes
3. Sit in quiet for 5 minutes
4. Eat breakfast and coffee alone in a quiet serene corner or on your couch
5. Then start your day with your family

Take notes on how everyday feels when you add this to your routine. If you notice a change, slowly add 15 minutes each week (for 3 weeks) to slowly incorporate a exercise routine. Your body will feel blessed that you recognize your inner beauty and will slowly speak through you.

In my family it seems to create a sense of calmness. Smiles and connection with each other is created in this new morning environment.

Thevi Cosmetics was created initially as a brand focused on expression of yourself. But I have run across many people who ask the question how to express as well as being scared to express themselves.

As an entrepreneur, mother, wife and daughter I am like many who seem to try to juggle multiple hats but always with the positive intent of serving others. At the end of the day I find that my checklist was completed but my soul would be drained.

Over the past few months I have tried make THE PRIORITY of myself and soon realized that my happiness is actually serving the true happiness of others around me. Living through our inner beauty (or soul) illuminates our world. We allow others to feel our strength and inner beauty and in turn, they glow in their strength and inner beauty as well.

Each Day I will express my own journey toward this inner beauty expression and welcome your stories and questions. I truly believe that this journey is yours only to experience. My words and images are here to evoke your emotions and thoughts but you are to take that journey to express your own inner beauty.

Winter seems to be lingering still is but one can still enjoy hearty soups. Warm yourself and loved one’s up with classic homemade new England clam chowder. This classic cream-based soup is inspired by our color of the week, pearl. Try this recipe from allrecipes.com.

Ingredients
• 4 slices bacon, diced
• 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
• 1 1/2 cups water
• 4 cups peeled and cubed potatoes
• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
ground black pepper to taste
3 cups half-and-half
3 tablespoons butter
2 (10 ounce) cans minced clams
Directions

1. Place diced bacon in large stock pot over medium-high heat. Cook until almost crisp; add onions, and cook 5 minutes. Stir in water and potatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes, or until potatoes are fork tender.
2. Pour in half-and-half, and add butter. Drain clams, reserving clam liquid; stir clams and 1/2 of the clam liquid into the soup. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until heated through. Do not allow to boil.

Ingredients
• 5 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
• 1/3 cup water
• 2 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 4 cups (32 ounces) fat-free frozen vanilla yogurt
Directions
• In a food processor, puree blackberries, water and lemon juice. Strain blackberries, reserving juice and pulp. Discard seeds. Return pureed blackberries to food processor; add sugar and vanilla. Cover and process until smooth.

In a large bowl, combine yogurt and blackberry mixture. Fill cylinder of ice cream freezer two-thirds full; freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions. Ingredients
• 3 cups fresh blueberries
• 3 tablespoons white sugar
• 1/3 cup orange juice
• 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 pinch salt
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. In an 8 inch square baking dish, mix blueberries, 3 tablespoons sugar, and orange juice. Set aside. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a medium bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour mixture, stirring just until ingredients are combined. Drop batter by rounded tablespoons over blueberry mixture. Try to cover as much of filling as possible.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

Beauty Tips For Eyebrows

Your eyebrows add strength and definition to your face. Well groomed eyebrows enhance your beauty

You should pluck eyebrows before bedtime so any redness will disappear overnight. In shaping your eyebrows use your facial features.

Use a pair of slant edge tweezers which grip hairs easily. Comb hairs one way and then the other to remove loose hairs.

You should pluck hairs between the brows and any stragglers. Never remove the hairs from above your eyebrows.

Pluck each hair individually close to the root. Work in the direction of the growth.

Always avoid over plucking. In defining your eyebrows choose a shade similar to your natural hair colour.

When using a pencil you should apply in small, feathered strokes. Starting at the inner corner work outwards.
Blend the colour with a brush. To tame stray hairs just use hair gel and comb through to neaten.

Many women shy away from blush, afraid that they will look harsh and over-done. The correct technique will help you avoid that problem!

The right way to blush:

Smile or suck in your cheeks to locate the apples of your cheeks. Begin at the center of the apple and apply blush up to the corner of the eye and the temple. Blush should never go below the bottom of your nose, or any closer in than the iris of your eye. Applying blush high on the face makes your eyes sparkle.

After applying blush, blend with a dry makeup sponge. Use the edge of the sponge like an eraser on the outer edges of the applied blush to buff away any lines of demarcation.

Never apply blush below the cheekbones. This tripe of color only creates an illusion that brings the face down and makes you look older.

When the seasons change, change your blush! Deeper, rich colors for fall and winter, paler tines for spring and summer.

Note for oily skin: Excess oil causes the skin to grab color causing your blush to darken as the day goes on. Avoid this by powdering often, not with blush but with pressed translucent powder.

So the more times you find something to be grateful / thankful for, the more times you feel good. The more times you feel good, the more of that joy you spread to others. Watch out... it could be contagious....

Daily Oil Massage

One of the most enjoyable things you can do for your body and health is to have a full-body oil massage in the morning before your bath or shower. An oil massage has a soothing effect on the nervous system (Vata), strengthens the circulation, and helps to remove toxins from the body. The Ayurvedic texts explain that the use of oil massage brings about a soft, flexible, strong and attractive body. It is extremely beneficial for the skin and should therefore be done regularly.

Guidelines for oil massage

Allow about 15 minutes, in the morning. The massage can be done either standing up or sitting down, in a comfortably warm room. Ideally the oil should be heated beforehand to a little above body temperature. Massage slowly and evenly, using the whole hand. By the end of the massage, a thin film of oil should cover the whole body.

Start by massaging the head region, with small circular movements. Then do the neck, throat, shoulders, arms and hands. Massage the limbs with long straight strokes up and down; for the joints use circular movements. The chest and stomach area should be massaged very gently. Use circular strokes on the chest, straight up-and-down strokes over the breastbone and solar plexus. For the abdomen use a slow, circular, clockwise movement. Massage the back and the base of spine up and down with the flat of the hands - as far as you can comfortably reach. The legs are done in the same manner as the arms: circular movements on the joints, straight strokes on the limbs. Finally, massage the feet and the soles of the feet. Best results are achieved if you leave the oil on for 15 minutes at least, before taking a bath or a shower, so that the body has time to absorb the oil. If you are short of time, then massage only the head, ears and soles of the feet.

MANGO HUMMUS MASK

Mash 1 oz. of mangoes until they are totally pulverized. Add 1 oz. of hummus. (It can be homemade or store bought, but it should be plain and without additives such as garlic.) Add 1 tsp. of milk and 1 tsp. of honey (these soften the skin). Stir until the mask has formed a paste. Spread it on your face, concentrating on the age spots. Leave on for 30 minutes and then wash off with warm water to open your pores. Follow by rinsing your face with cold water to close them.

Ingredients
• 1 can chickpeas
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
• salt to taste
• black pepper to taste
• 1 tbsp sesame seeds
• 1 tsp additional olive oil for topping
How to make it
• in a food processor, blend everything together until it gets creamy and lump free, bout 2 minutes.
• now add the 1 tsp olive oil on top and dont mix it in, let it stand on top of the hummus.
• now pure it in he serving dish and serve with Arabic pita bread, fried chicken, french fries or any thing you like!

1 med. head purple cabbage, shredded 

1 med. head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized pieces

 1 med. onion, finely chopped 

1 head fresh broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces

 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, thawed, but not cooked 

1 lb. bacon, fried crisp & crumbled

DRESSING:
2 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise

 1/2 c. sugar 

1/3 c. Parmesan cheese 

1/2 tsp. salt

 1/2 tsp. pepper

Prepare vegetables and toss with dressing. Sprinkle bacon over all. Keep 4-5 days fairly well in a tight container.

3 cups fresh blueberries

3 tablespoons white sugar

1/3 cup orange juice

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking poweder

1 pinch salt

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheart over to 375 degrees

2. In an 8 inch square baking dish, mix blueberries, 3 tablesppons sugar and orange juice. Set aside. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix flour, baking power and salt. Set aside.

3. In a medium bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy. beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually add flour mixture, stirring just until ingredients are combined. Drop batter by rounded tablespons over blueberry mixture. try to cover as much of filling as possible.

4. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling.
